W ritten data on the wine tradition of the Rajkovic family dates back to 1834, when the first census was conducted in Serbia, although according to the family tradition, this tradition is longer for a century.
The Rajkovic family is the bearer of one of the oldest awards for wine in Serbia, because our ancestor Milos Rajkovic received the Accolade of King Aleksandar I Karadjordjevic in 1933 for wine from the autochthonous grape variety of the Rskavac grape variety, from which today is the widely known wine Prince made. In honor of this anniversary, a wine named "33" was created as one of the most expensive wines of Serbia, which in 2013 was awarded a bronze medal at the London Decanter World Wine Awards wine competition, as the first wine from Serbia in the premium price category ever awarded with medal at this most prestigious worldwide evaluation.
Since 2010, the Rajić Winery has been proclaimed a court-appointed purveyor for the royal house Karadjordjević, and the best Serbian wines are being drunk at the Serbian court again. With 10 hectares of its own vineyards, both autochthonous (rskavac, tamjanika white and black) and international varieties (cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc), we can boast the oldest plantation of Pinot Noir in Serbia, which Vladimir Rajkovic planted after returning from the study in 1962. Today, from this plantation, the grapes from which the wine Dina is made, are harvested. And Dina is named after the nickname of the man who brought this variety to Župa - Vladimir Rajković.
Applying modern achievements in oenology, combination of indigenous varieties and modern approaches, Opium wine is created. The grapes of our grandfathers, the knowledge of our sons. Serbian wine trilogy.
New achievements in oenology are best seen in the line of wines under the name 'Sofia'. Sofia tamjanika, Sofia Rose of Pinot Noir, a purposefully planted combination of four clones, and Sofia Cuvee of Merlo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc represent the modern aspirations of the Župa winemakers in a dynamic and always new enology world.
By combining tradition, love and dedication, we are producing wines that have won the highest awards at all relevant competitions.
People are passing, but the story of the best Serbian wines remains.
